Ode to the Universe

It’s messy

Sloppy and cringy a bit

Unruly and unkempt at times

No matter the pushes

Or the pulls and the tugs

The wrinkle never disappears,

Now does it?

We all see the chaos of creation-

It cannot be smoothed

It cannot be stretched into perfection

There is no iron hot enough

Nor enough steam to chase

Those pesky outlaw particles

Into our ideas of order

But still,

We can dream in bliss

Sometimes we create it in art & music & movement

& love

It’s our homeland inspiration

Wherever “home” may be

But it’s messy

Here

And sore

Everything needs repair

I’m in the waiting room

Myself

It’s my heart again

Where my life has been lived

Oh, the woes it has shelved

An apothecary of thorns and belts

And yet my heart beats still

To the rhythm of the twists & pin pricks

What forces keep it beating?

Even after

The impact?

There’s more ahead for now

Watch the trees to learn how

Keep standing and bending with the wind

Twist and gnarl if you must

Reach into the depth for support

Limbs out to the cosmos for breath

Let it be

Messy

Original

Terrifying

Full of love

What an epic story

It will become.
